i am fussy with my technology, okay?
May. 7th, 2009 03:27 pmi am rather desperately awaiting the availability (generally given as "soon") of reading filters; i knew i used them a lot, but i didn't realize how much until i started getting so twitchy at my dw reading page that doesn't have any groupings.
i know the new interface for managing filters is a ways off, but just being able to set up three or four and manage them in the old irritating way would be lovely. "soon", i know, i know!

okay, so we're coming up on the end of the month (which i know because my rent was due; otherwise i am not particularly aware of things like timing, as anyone who's ever tried to meet me for dinner has learned) and that means that dreamwidth is about to become official, which means that i need to figure out what i'm going to be doing here.
i think it's this: for reading, i think i'm going to try and recreate my three basic reading filters from lj ("people near me", "people in my current fandom", "some other nifty people") here on dreadwidth -- i assume reading filters are coming soonish, and in the meantime i can mush y'all together -- and subscribe in those directions. i'm going to try and follow people here unless your primary posting is still on lj, and i'm going to mess it up and misplace some people and figure this out months from now and feel silly. just so y'all know.
for writing, is anyone here interested in crossposts from ij? i'm feeling pretty comfortable with my ij right now, but i could crosspost to dw. alternatively, i understand that there's going to be some fancy footwork coming for openid subscriptions across sites -- i do have some ij posts which are locked to a fannish filter, but i'm happy to grant access to people who are interested now that more people seem to be hopping to the openid thing.
ooh, hey, can i make a poll?

Apr. 12th, 2009 11:45 pmfor the immediate moment i am going to continue with my primary journal at
cmshaw -- i'm not going to crosspost because i intend to eventually import that journal and
cmshaw into this one. during the open beta i'm going to try and make some time to actually, y'know, test things: this helps with the testing and also gives me a few more weeks to ponder how i'm going to work this circle thing. at the moment i've been subscribing+granting to my local friends and to people from my fandom (batman), and tentatively i'm working with the theory that i'm going to subscribe wider once there are more reading filter options but not necessarily grant wider because i can't picture a need to lock anything outside of those groups...but we'll see!
